) MADRID (Dow Jones)–Spain’s government Thursday said it has granted a four-year extension to the operating permit of the Garona nuclear plant which is run by electricity companies Iberdrola SA (IBDRY) and Endesa SA (ELEZF). The decision comes after Spain’s CSN nuclear regulator on June 8 issued a nonbinding recommendation for a 10-year operating permit extension of the 466-megawatt plant and follows lobbying by companies to have its operating life extended while environmentalists demanded a shutdown. At a news conference Industry Minister Miguel Sebastian said switching the plant off in four years won’t.
